Cape May Brewing to Raise Money for S.J. FoodBankLast Edited:
The Cape May Brewing Company will be holding its first-ever Food Drive Fund Drive to help the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
On Thursday, December 14th, Cape May Brewery will create a mini-grocery store in its Tasting Room from noon-8 p.m. Visitors can purchase any items they want from the mini-grocery store at whatever price they choose and donate it to the Food Drive.
“Childhood hunger is an epidemic in our state,” said Cape May Brewing Company CEO and co-founder Ryan Krill. “And we wanted to do more than simply collect food or cut a check. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey for our annual Food Drive, and we’re doing what we can to raise as much money as possible for them.”
People that donate will receive one 4-ounce tasting of their choice from the Brewery. All the money raised on Dec. 14th will be donated to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
“Cape May County has the highest percent of childhood food insecurity with 19.8 percent of Cape May children not knowing where their nutritious meal is coming from,” said Richard Uniacke, VP of Southern Branch, The Community FoodBank of NJ. “While these families struggle all year long, during the holidays, we make a tremendous push to ensure that each and every child has a wonderful holiday meal on their table.”
The Community FoodBank works with more than 300 agencies in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties to distribute more than 10 million pounds of food in just southern New Jersey alone.
For every $1 donated to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, the group is able to distribute $8 worth of food to families throughout southern New Jersey.
