POMONA, N.J. -

Students at Stockton University got to explore the hip-hop industry at an annual hip-hop summit on Thursday, December 7th.

The 2017 hip-hop summit — Stay Woke: Using Hip-Hop as a Tool for Consciousness Raising — was held at Stockton's Campus Center Theater, giving attendees a chance to hear open discussions about the music genre and the culture surrounding it.

The free event featured panel discussions on various topics, performances and demonstrations, and featured Brooklyn-based rapper Talib Kweli as the keynote speaker.

This is the fourth year the university has put on the event, and officials say it is a great way for students to take a deeper look into the music they are listening to.
