Allstate Insurance Donating Winter Gear to Domestic Violence Shelters

SOUTH JERSEY -

Allstate Insurance agencies across the region, including in South Jersey, are teaming to help bring an end to domestic violence.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, an average of 20 people are physically abused by their partner every minute, totaling more than 10 million domestic violence victims annually, and the Allstate Foundation wants to help change that.

As part of the Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse program, several agencies throughout the area will be collecting winter supplies to be donated to domestic violence shelters. The drive is something officials say is a way to show support to victims to let them know they are not alone.

"It's a really tough thing for somebody who's in a situation of domestic violence to get out of it," said Justin Doppler, agency owner of Allstate Domestic Violence.

"I think once they have the strength to do that, they need the support, and really try to support their efforts to remove themselves from a bad situation and give them the things they need in order to get out of it."

Between now  and Thursday, December 11th, Allstate will be collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarfs for women and children living in domestic violence shelters.

The following locations are accepting donations:

  • 1348 Chews Landing Road, Laurel Springs
  • 15 South Main Street, Suite 1, Cape May Court House
  • 1575 Almonesson Road, Deptford
  • 1-B Carroll Avenue, Pennsville
