Things got a little nutty for police in one New Jersey town after it was discovered the town's Christmas display had been vandalized.

Officials in Sea Girt, N.J., were stumped by the case, but after police launched a full investigation they finally nabbed their suspect.

The squirrel caused some holiday chaos after he chewed through the wires of the town's Christmas tree.

According to police, the squirrel was charged with criminal mischief and was released on bail.
