GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

Over the weekend, a fire tore through an apartment complex in Gloucester Township, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

Police say the blaze broke out just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, December 3rd, at the Blackwood Falls Apartment Complex in Blackwood.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from an apartment and rescued two adults and a child from inside.

One of the adults died as a result of the fire, while the other adult and the child were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police say 18 residents from eight apartments were displaced, but no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
