Nissan announced a partnership to deploy a virtual reality experience promoting the latest Star Wars film.
VINELAND, N.J. -
A South Jersey car dealership is taking the car shopping experience to a new level — that is out of this world.
Earlier this month Nissan announced a partnership with ILM Experience Lab to deploy a one-of-a-kind virtual reality experience called Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay, to help promote the upcoming Star Wars film.
The experience is touring dealerships across the country and on Friday, December 1st, shoppers at Team Nissan in Vineland got the chance to enter the virtual world themselves.
Team Nissan representatives say they are excited to use this fun event as a way to bring the community together.
"Virtual reality is a big trend right now," said Reid Schwartz, operations manager at Team Nissan in Vineland. "There's a lot of cool things people are doing with it and everyone's really, really enjoyed it. You kind of get in there; it's like a game.
"This is a community event — we're not trying to sell cars right now, we're just trying to basically invite people in for a great time."
The virtual reality experience allows users to climb aboard General Leia's ship and serve as an astro-mechanic to help repair BB-8 and his droid companions.
Shoppers can experience the virtual fun at Team Nissan in Vineland on Saturday, December 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
