Legalization of Marijuana in N.J. Could Take Longer Than Thought

New Jersey Governor-elect Phil Murphy has promised to legalize marijuana throughout his campaign, but the big question still remains on how quickly he, and the Democrat-led State Legislature, will be able to fulfill his promise.

Top legislative supporters of the legalization say they will have a proposal ready to go soon after Murphy takes over on Tuesday, January 16th.

The idea of fully legalizing the drug already has key Democratic lawmakers urging caution, and Republicans looking unlikely to support the efforts.

Despite the doubts and opposition, Murphy has given no indication of backing off from his promise.
