Avalon Celebrates Holidays with "Festive" EventLast Edited:
A Jersey Shore community gave Black Friday shoppers a place to take a break with fun the whole family could enjoy.
On Friday, November 24th, the 7 Mile Business Community Association kicked off a weekend of holiday-themed events with Festive Friday, in downtown Avalon.
The event featured a variety of holiday activities up and down Dune Drive to showcase local businesses, which even the coordinators said is a great way to get holiday shoppers shopping small right in their own back yard.
"It's such a feel-good weekend. You know there's such camaraderie within the business community, and it's events like this that have really helped build that camaraderie," said Jacquie Ewing, president of 7 Mile Business Community Association. "Everybody has ownership of this, everybody has skin in the game and we all get that."
Festive Friday included various activities like face painting, ice skating, holiday-themed art projects, and a Turkey Trot 5K that happened at the start of the day.
Downtown Avalon will continue their holiday activities with Snowfest on Saturday, November 25th.
