AVALON, N.J. -

A Jersey Shore community gave Black Friday shoppers a place to take a break with fun the whole family could enjoy.

On Friday, November 24th, the 7 Mile Business Community Association kicked off a weekend of holiday-themed events with Festive Friday, in downtown Avalon.

The event featured a variety of holiday activities up and down Dune Drive to showcase local businesses, which even the coordinators said is a great way to get holiday shoppers shopping small right in their own back yard.

"It's such a feel-good weekend. You know there's such camaraderie within the business community, and it's events like this that have really helped build that camaraderie," said Jacquie Ewing, president of 7 Mile Business Community Association. "Everybody has ownership of this, everybody has skin in the game and we all get that."
