Inspira Rising with Vineland ExpansionLast Edited:
Inspira Health Network has been growing rapidly in Cumberland, Salem, Gloucester and Camden counties.
“The hospital is really busy these days," said Elizabeth Sheridan, COO for Inspira Health Network in Vineland and Elmer. "We’re here for the community. We [saw] over 73,000 patients in our emergency department [in] 2016, and that equates to about 200-250 patients per day. So we have a big responsibility."
With a high volume of patients coming into the facility in Vineland, Inspira officials realized it’s time to expand. But instead of growing outwards, they’re growing upwards.
“We’re constructing a patient tower of two units, and we will plan to open one unit in 2018 and that will be 36 additional inpatient adult medsurg beds,” said Sheridan.
And the team behind the organization wasted no time in getting this project started.
“We started flying the steel, as they say, this past Saturday,” said Sheridan.
Workers were out putting down steel on Tuesday, November 14th. This part of the expansion is expected to be completed this month; then work will begin inside to get the new unit ready and able to welcome patients.
“It’s very exciting and it’s a great opportunity to be able to react to what the community needs," said Sheridan. "That’s really what we’re here for.”
The two-tiered expansion is going right above the current outpatient space at their facilities in Vineland. After Tuesday’s expansion announcement, those in attendance joined to sign two 10-foot steel beams that will be among the last pieces of steel installed in the project.
“Our goal is to make sure that we make life as easy as possible for everyone we serve and we look forward to having this done by the end of the next year,” said John DiAngelo, president and CEO at Inspira Health Network.
The other floor being built during this expansion will be left open and ready to be utilized if that demand grows once again.
