Semi-Annual Blood Drive Held at Convention Hall

CAPE MAY, N.J. -

Officials in Cape May gave residents and visitors a chance to give back by giving blood.

The City of Cape May, in partnership with the American Red Cross, held it's semi-annual American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Cape May Convention Hall on Monday, November 13th.

Among the donors was Cape May Mayor Chuck Lear, who says he knows first hand the impact a blood donation can have, and he encourages everyone in the community to help save a life.

"Years ago, my son Chris was sick in the children's hospital and he needed blood so it really made it important both for my wife and I," said Lear.

"So we've routinely given blood and would encourage all my fellow residents here in Cape May to do the same. It's a very quick procedure, it's relatively painless, and they really treat you well."

The Red Cross is always looking for healthy volunteers to donate blood. To find a blood drive happening near you visit redcross.org.
