CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

On Wednesday, November 8th, Camden County and Jefferson Health New Jersey officials held a special event to honor local veterans.

Jefferson Health, formerly Kennedy Health, hosted the Camden County Veterans Medal Award Ceremony to honor 34 Camden County Veterans for their dedication to their country.

The veterans honored came from all branches of the military and each received the Camden County Military Service Medal.

In addition, a special recognition award was presented to Jefferson Health New Jersey employee Trudy Corma, the mother of fallen Army war hero Salvatore S. Corma, II.

First Lieutenant Corma lost his life in Afghanistan in 2010 while trying to contain an explosive device.

He is credited with saving the lives of 19 other soldiers that day and was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart.
