ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Officials in Atlantic County held a special forum to help juveniles in the area learn about the criminal justice as it applies to them.

On Wednesday, November 1st, the Atlantic County System Partners — comprised of juvenile court staff, community leaders, educators, business and service providers and grass-roots organizations — hosted a free forum about the juvenile justice system.

The forum promoted awareness about the resources available to juveniles and families involved in the juvenile justice system and how officials can work to improve it.

"[I applaud] Judge Maven's efforts to really make this more of a rehabilitation as opposed to a punitive program for juveniles," said Prajakta Harshe, CEO of Amethyst Counseling LLC and ASAPP Healthcare.

"It is the JJC, which is [the] Juvenile Justice Commission, that comes together to make efforts to see if we can lead them one way versus another."

Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Susan F. Maven was in attendance to discuss how the courts are working to better protect juveniles and steer them down a path to success.
