Guadagno Challenges Murphy to Additional Debates

NEWARK, N.J. -

The two main party candidates for governor squared off on Tuesday, October 10th, in Newark for their first debate.

It was the first of two planned debates before the November 7th election.

However, following Tuesday night's debate, Republican Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno is now calling for an additional two more debates with Democrat opponent Phil Murphy in the race to succeed Governor Chris Christie.

Murphy, a former Obama Administration ambassador and Goldman Sachs executive, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Guadagno's request for more debates comes as she trails both in the polls and in raising cash.

Murphy and Guadagno's next debate is set for Wednesday, October 18th.
