Vineland Rotary Volunteers Wrap Gifts for Birthday Book Project

MILLVILLE, N.J. -

Volunteers from the Vineland Rotary Club came out on Tuesday, October 10th, to wrap presents for the Cara McCollum Birthday Book Project.

Former SNJ Today news anchor Cara McCollum started the Birthday Book Project in Arkansas when she was still in high school, and continued the program during her time as Miss New Jersey in 2013.

Cara's goal was to put a book in the hands of children in need so that no child would go without a gift for their birthday, and she thought "What better gift to give than the gift of reading?"

"I think everybody should get a present on their birthday and the fact that SNJ provides this and that Vineland Rotary can help wrap the books and get them out to the kids is great," said Susanna Philippoussis, former president of the Vineland Rotary Club.

Since her tragic passing in February 2016, volunteers such as the Vineland Rotary Club and other area groups have helped to keep Cara's legacy alive.
