Ocean City High School Teacher Named 2018 Teacher of the Year

The New Jersey State Board of Education has officially chosen the 2018 Teacher of the Year, and this year's winner is from South Jersey.

Amy Andersen, an American Sign Language (ASL) teacher at Ocean City High School, was named the 2018 New Jersey Teacher of the Year.

Andersen was among six finalists and was awarded the honor on Wednesday, October 4th, at the State Board of Education meeting.

As part of her award, Andersen will receive a six-month paid sabbatical and will take part in state and national activities, including a chance to meet the president.

Andersen began teaching in the ASL program at Ocean City High School in 2004 and has since seen the program expand from 42 to 130 students.
