'Jefferson' New Name for Kennedy Hospitals in South JerseyLast Edited:
Two major healthcare companies from South Jersey and Philadelphia made their merger official with the unveiling of a new company name as well as new names to some of its hospitals.
On Wednesday, October 4th, local officials and representatives from the former Kennedy Health company and the Jefferson Health company met to officially reveal the new name and signage of Cherry Hill's Kennedy Hospital, which merged with Jefferson last month. It will now be called Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital.
Kennedy's other South Jersey hospitals will become Jefferson Stratford Hospital and Jefferson Washington Township Hospital.
Officials say the Jefferson-Kennedy merger is important not only to residents in South Jersey, but also to the future of both health networks.
"The reason that this naming is so important, the reason this marriage is so important is because, the citizens of these townships will now be healthier because of it," said Dr. Stephen Klasko, president and CEO of Jefferson Health.
"This is a growth for us and this is an opportunity for us to become an integral part of a world-prestigious organization," said Joseph Devine, president and CEO of Kennedy Health, which will now be referred to as Jefferson Health. "And now that we've done all of the great things that we've done we now have to even do it better. We have to live up to that expectation."
Officials say both companies will continue to roll out new changes over time to ensure a smooth transition for patients and staff.
Residents will receive care from the same Kennedy doctors and nurses, but will now have access to Jefferson's enhanced services and clinical trials as well.
