SNJ Today / Glasstown Productions Wins 'Best Documentary' for Richie Kates Film

SNJ Today's April 2017 documentary Richie Kates: Uncommon Journey picked up an award from the PhilaFilm 40th annual Philadelphia International Film Festival.

The film, which follows the extraordinary and inspiring life of "Cumberland County's Champ" Richie Kates, a professional boxer, community activist, and youth and prisoner mentor, won in the 2017 PhilaFilm category of "Best Documentary."

Richie Kates: Uncommon Journey debuted on SNJ Today's TV 22 (in Cumberland County, New Jersey) and on SNJToday.com on April 13th, 2017. At the same time, 700 people filled the historic Landis Theater in the city of Vineland for a premiere event, which was also included a Q&A with Kates, two of his sons, Randall and Ryan, sports and boxing commentator Dave Bontempo, along with the documentary's director, SNJ Today's Jeff Schwachter.
