CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has signed a new executive order to honor a fallen United States Navy sailor from South Jersey.

On September 13th, Christie signed the order into action, ordering all state buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Saturday, September 16th, to honor the memory and mourn the loss of U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith.

Smith, a Cherry Hill resident, was serving on board navy destroyer U.S.S. John S. McCain when it collided with an oil tanker off the coast of Singapore last month.

He and nine other sailors lost their lives during the crash.

Smith's funeral is set for this Saturday at 4 p.m. at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Cherry Hill.
