VINELAND, N.J. -

On Wednesday, September 13th, a local synagogue offered up some tasty treats to community members to begin getting into the spirit of the big Jewish holiday taking place next week.

The Jewish Federation of Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties held a pre-Rosh Hashanah Honey Cake Bake at the Beth Israel Congregation in Vineland.

Those who came out to the event got to bake their own honey cake and taste a variety of honey flavors.

The event was put on to teach members of the community why an emphasis is put on sweet foods during the Jewish New Year holiday.

Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset on Wednesday, September 20th, and ends on the night of Friday, September 22nd.
