Bridgeton Fire Dept. Cancels 9/11 Event Due to Fire

BRIDGETON, N.J. -

An annual September 11th memorial event honoring the firefighters who lost their lives that tragic day 16 years ago will not be taking place this year due to a fire.

For the last five years, members of the Bridgeton Fire Department have honored the victims of 9/11 by climbing the same amount of stairs emergency responders climbed to get to the top of the World Trade Center in New York City.

This year, however, the Bridgeton High Rise, which is the building they use to climb up and down for the event, is being renovated following a fire that occurred this past spring.

The captain of the Bridgeton Fire Department said not to lose faith in the future as they are already looking forward to next year's 9/11 memorial stair climb.
