NEW JERSEY -

After returning home from a week in Texas aiding relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey, the New Jersey Task Force One (NJ-TF1) crew is gearing up to hit the road again.

Governor Chris Christie announced on Thursday, September 7th, that NJ-TF1 will deploy to an Air Force base in Florida to assist as the state prepares for Hurricane Irma's arrival — at the request of FEMA.

Earlier this week, Christie approved the deployment of the New Jersey Army National Guard to Florida as well.

Irma has already devastated the Anguilla, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as other Caribbean nations, and is expected to reach the state of Florida as a Category 4 hurricane the morning of Sunday, September 10th.
