ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Boulevard Avenue in Atlantic City may be getting a second name to honor a beloved mayor, senator and city resident.

Atlantic City's City Council has proposed a new ordinance that would provide another name and designation to Boulevard Avenue: Jim Whelan Lane.

Senator Jim Whelan passed away suddenly last month after suffering a major heart attack at his Atlantic City home.

Whelan was best known for his decades of service and dedication to the well-being of Atlantic City and the entire South Jersey area.

City Council members will make the final decision about the new street name at their next meeting on Wednesday, September 6th.
