Christie Opposes Trump's Offshore Drilling Plan

NEW JERSEY -

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is making it clear to the Donald Trump Administration that he is standing firm against proposed natural gas and oil exploration off of New Jersey's coast.

In a tweet on Wednesday, August 16th, Christie wrote he's delivering on his promise to tell the federal government "no" in relation to plans for offshore exploration.

The tweet came after the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection commissioner, Bob Martin, sent a letter to the Federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, in response to a request for comments about the proposed program.

Officials have argued that offshore exploration would harm marine life and ultimately hurt the shore's tourism industry.
