Last Edited:

On the morning of Tuesday, August 15th, patrons and staff at a local hotel had a surprise guest come and splash around in their pool.

The Atlantic City Police and Animal Control responded to reports of a three-foot alligator inside the pool at the Bayview Inn and Suites around 10 a.m.

Officials say it is unclear where the alligator came from, how it got in the pool, or how long it had been in the pool but noted the hotel is located near the Lakes Bay Nature Preserve.

Animal Control was able to safely remove the gator from the pool and transported him to an undisclosed location.
