PAULSBORO, N.J. -

ExxonMobil officials recently announced plans to shift around the energy giant's operations in New Jersey.

The plans include moving the company's Paulsboro research facility to Hunterdon County.

The plans would consolidate the company's research facilities and laboratories in Clinton, while its lubricants manufacturing plant would continue to operate in Paulsboro.

The move is expected to start in the middle of 2018 and be completed in 2019.

The current facility, which has about 340 employees, will remain operational until the consolidation is complete.

ExxonMobil officials say that the move will enhance its "state-of-the-art" research capabilities and improve collaboration within the company.
