ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Atlantic City's mayor says that the city's homeowners are going to see a reduction in their flood insurance costs.

Mayor Don Guardian says that Atlantic City property owners, who have flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program, will start seeing a 20-percent discount in May of next year.

The discount comes with a change in the city's Community Rating System (CRS) to a class 6 rating. The rating change is due to Atlantic City's efforts engaging in CRS creditable activities including public information, mapping and regulations, flood damage reductions, and flood warnings.

The discount will save property owners an average of $190 year.
