On The Ave: Getting the Word Out

Last Edited:

‘The Ave’ brochures are in a mailbox, rest stop, or tourist center near you.

Many of you have found them with your electric and water bills; some of you are finding them along the road at rest stops and tourist centers, and some of you are finding them at the Main Street Vineland office and other places in Vineland.

What I’m talking about are brochures promoting downtown Vineland—The Ave—and I’m really proud of this piece of promotion. It gives ample reasons why The Ave is a great place to dine, shop, live, and enjoy, whether you’re local or from out of the area. We have plenty going on that you’ll find of interest.

Let’s take a look at the brochure and you’ll see what I mean. Open up the tri-fold and you’ll see a panel devoted to our Fourth Friday Movies on The Ave series running through October. Another panel is devoted to our Food Truck Festival on the Ave, which already happened, but the buzz continues. The third panel is devoted to Dine on The Ave, giving a list and map of 15 local restaurants that make The Ave a hot-spot for ethnic food.

Turn the third panel over and you’ll see why you should come to Vineland—and The Ave—for the best in entertainment. You’ll discover the iconic Landis Theater, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year with a full schedule of shows. You’ll discover the Bay Atlantic Symphony, the Orchestra-in-Residence at the Landis Theater and one of the region’s great cultural assets. You’ll also discover the Delsea Drive-In Theater—not on The Ave but having won wide recognition as the state’s only drive-in movie theater.

Turn over the entire brochure and, on the back, is a calendar of events on The Ave for the rest of the year, in an easy-to-follow list format. You’ll see some exciting events coming up that you won’t want to miss.

We had 29,000 of these brochures go out with the recent Vineland electric and water bills, with another couple of thousand to distribute at places around Vineland. We also had 25,000 printed up on special glossy paper and these are being distributed for us through South Jersey in rest stops and in the racks of tourist and visitors center.

We’ll want to keep these brochures up-to-date, so in a couple of months, a new brochure will come out highlighting the events and attractions we’ll have coming up for the fall and winter.

This is a key way that we’re letting you—and the rest of South Jersey—know that Vineland is a great place to come and enjoy yourself. We’ve seen it happen. As the saying goes, “When you give the people what they want, they’ll come out for it.” All you have to do is get the word out.

This is all the more reason to make The Ave your destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment needs, as well as for fun all year round. Save money on gasoline, avoid the long lines at the big-box stores, malls, and shopping centers, and take in the rich variety of fun things to do—right in your own backyard.
