BRIGANTINE, N.J. -

The United States Coast Guard came to the rescue of four people after their boat began to sink on Sunday, August 6th.

Around 1 p.m. is when the 27-foot recreational boat began taking on water near Brigantine Beach, according to reports.

The Coast Guard, responding to a radio distress call, sent a response boat with a dewatering pump and were able to board the boat and remove water while using plugs to stop the flow of water into the boat.

The boat was able to safely return to the pier for further repairs and Coast Guard officials say that by sending an early distress call on the VHF radio, the boaters stopped a small problem from becoming a large one.
