MARGATE, N.J. -

On Saturday, July 15th, officials from the Margate Fire Department and Heart of Surfing hosted a fun event to give children and young adults with special needs a chance to learn how to surf.

The free event, which produced the largest amount of participants the organization has ever seen, took place at the beach between Coolidge and Monroe avenues in Margate.

Longport and Margate Patrol lifeguards made special appearances to help donate four new surfboards to the Heart of Surfing organization so they can continue to provide these types of activities to those in need.

Heart of Surfing offers free activities to children with special needs and their families every Saturday on the 57th Street Beach in Ocean City.
