CAMDEN, N.J. -

The Camden-based Campbell's Soup Company has announced they are buying Pacific Foods, an Oregon-based producer of organic broth and soup for $700 million.

The purchase of Pacific Foods will provide Campbell's with more access to the fast-growing health and well-being categories.

Campbell's describes Pacific Foods as a "natural foods pioneer" and says that acquiring the producer of plant-based beverages and meals will help Campbell's meet changing consumer preferences.

The acquisition, once completed, would be the fifth in five years for Campbell's.
