ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Atlantic City's Tropicana Casino has purchased a new property to expand its resort.

Tropicana Entertainment purchased the Chelsea Hotel from billionaire investor Carl Icahn, but representatives with the company did not reveal the dollar amount. The new expansion will bring the Tropicana's room total to more than 2,700 rooms.

The Tropicana is expected to reopen the space in August 2017 as the Chelsea Tower at Tropicana, and plans to link the two buildings together with a skywalk.
