CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. -

A new not-so-little bundle of joy was welcomed into the world at the Cape May County Zoo last week.

On Monday, June 5th, the zoo's resident female American Bison, Zippy, gave birth to a healthy female calf, with her partner Hank, also an American Bison.

The youngster is the fourth calf the pair have had together during their time at the zoo.

The new calf has joined the rest of her family and can be seen by visitors in their North American Prairie habitat.

The American Bison is on the endangered species list and the Cape May Zoo actively supports American Bison conservation.

In 2015 they donated a female bison to Colorado State University for a Bison Restoration Program to further help conservation efforts.
