CAMDEN, N.J. -

Students in Camden got to enjoy the experience of a lifetime this weekend thanks to the help of a new grant.

Covanta awarded a $39,000 grant to provide nearly a dozen middle and high school students with the opportunity to participate in the Center of Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium in Camden's nationally-renowned Community and Urban Science Enrichment Program (CAUSE).

CAUSE is a five-year project designed for select students to receive mentoring, college prep, and intensive academic training in the environmental and life sciences.

Officials say the grant is a welcome benefit to the program which addresses harmful marine issues and is a big help in advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Camden.
