Police Warn Carneys Point Residents of Potential Phone Scam

CARNEYS POINT, N.J. -

Police in Carneys Point are warning residents to be aware of a potential phone scammer attempting to steal personal information.

Officials at the Carneys Point Police Department have issued a warning to current and past Lakeview Tax customers, explaining that a scammer has been calling people in the area requesting people's personal information and falsely claiming to be with the company.

The scammer has been disguising their phone number to make it look like the Lakeview Tax number with the help of a spoofing program.

Lakeview Tax stated that if you're a current customer they already have all your information, and if you're a past customer, there is no need for them to request it.

Police are reminding everyone to never give out any information over the phone.
