Atlantic City Mayoral Candidate Small Calls for Recount

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

On Monday, June 12th, Atlantic City Councilman Marty Small filed a petition for a Primary Election recount in the State Superior Court based on the votes that gave Councilman Frank Gilliam the Democratic nomination for Mayor in November's election.

Small led in votes cast on voting machines, but lost due to a wave of absentee ballots that gave his opponent a more than 485 vote edge.

The Atlantic City Clerk's Office had expected to have the votes certified by June 12th, but now says it will most likely be done by Wednesday, June 14th.

Unless the results are overturned, Gilliam will face off against current Mayor Don Guardian (R) and Independent candidate Joseph Polillo in the General Election this November.
