New Jersey Initiates #77 Campaign to Stop Distracted Drivers

NEW JERSEY -

Officials in the State of New Jersey have been cracking down on distracted drivers, and they aren't doing it alone.

Over the last two months, more than 600 warning letters have been mailed to drivers who were reported by other drivers, for distracted driving.

The letters inform the drivers that their driving was reported, and outline the penalties they could face if caught by police for continually disobeying the law.

This is all part of the state's new campaign to encourage drivers to call #77 to report dangerous or distracted drivers on the road.

Since the campaign began police have received more than 1,000 calls to the tip line.
