WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

When an armed man attempted to rob a Wawa in Winslow Township, one shopper just couldn't stand by and let it happen.

Officers were called to the Wawa located on Cross Keys Road at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7th, for reports of an armed robbery.

Police say Alexander Ray entered the store with a handgun and began ordering everyone in the store to get on the ground.

As Ray made his way to the register, a man, who only wished to be identified as Darryl, tackled him, and the two fought until police arrived.

Darryl sustained minor injuries during the altercation, including lacerations on his face after being hit with the gun.

Ray was taken into custody and is facing numerous charges including robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.

None of the store employees were harmed during the incident.
