PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The 40th annual Philadelphia International Film Festival & Market (PHILAFILM) is being held Monday, June 12, through Saturday, June 17 in the City of Brotherly Love.

This year's PHILAFILM festival will include a screening of the 2017 SNJ Today documentary Richie Kates: Uncommon Journey. 

The screening will be held on the final night of the festival, at 7 p.m., at the African American Museum in Philadelphia (701 Arch St., 215-439-8455).

5:30 – 6:00 Feed The Hungry, Documentary. The Vision, the Outreach, the Community Changer…story of Carl Gilliard’s non-profit’s campaign to feed 25,000 needy, Garden City, GA families. Once homeless himself, Gilliard rose to the GA State House of Representatives. 

6:05- 6:50 Men of Understanding, Short Subject, Qassim Butler,and a friend rob a deli at 60th & Market Sts. Qassim goes to jail, his friend goes to college. After 5 years incarcerated, he’s empowered by an organization, Resources for Human Development. Nazir Alston, Director.

7:05-7:35 Condo, Short Subject. Steven, in college and prone to poor decisions, owes $5,000 to a Chinese gambling syndicate and has only a couple of weeks to pay the debt. SATURDAY- 6/17/17 - (AAMP) 
7:00 – 8:00 Richie Kates, Uncommon Journey. Documentary of Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey’s “Champ”, who fought Victor Galindez for the Light-Heavyweight World championship, and rose to prominence in the boxing world. 

8:05 – 10:00 X-SCAPE. Feature. Seven sociopaths escape from prison. No one is safe! The fugitives elude cops and stalk the innocent as well as the not so innocent.
