HAMMONTON, N.J. -

Travelers on the Atlantic City Expressway can now stop to see a piece of history thanks to the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA).

A 22-foot replica of the Battleship New Jersey is up for public display at the Frank S. Farley Service Plaza on the A.C. Expressway.

The Battleship Museum and Memorial is docking the brass model of the ship there to promote the battleship's presence to travelers in South Jersey.

"We are extremely grateful to the museum for sharing this important piece of New Jersey and American history," said SJTA Executive Director Stephen F. Dougherty.

The real USS New Jersey is America's most decorated ship and played a vital role in World War Two. It also served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

It is currently docked in the Delaware River along the Camden Waterfront. For more information or to plan a visit go to Battleshipnewjersey.org.
