ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

Atlantic City just couldn't wait until Saturday's national observance of Earth Day to start helping the planet.

In honor of Earth Day, Tanger Factory Outlets partnered with the "This Is AC" community movement and local organizations to clean up the area around its stores on Friday, April 21st, to bring the community together in helping the environment.

"I love these kinds of events because it brings everybody in the community who works on a variety of projects together," said Noyes Museum of Arts Executive Director Michael Cagno. "[They] provide an opportunity for fellowship and going for that ... common goal of making Atlantic City a great place."

More than 80 volunteers met at the Noyes Arts Garage on Fairmont and Mississippi avenues to take part in picking up litter and debris for the community cleanup between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Staff members at Tanger Outlets hope their efforts will inspire others in the community to clean their neighborhoods as well.
