VINELAND, N.J. — A second annual talent show fundraiser for the Gabriel Project will be held at the Landis Theater in Vineland on Saturday, April 29th starting at 7 p.m. The show will feature Carly Underwood, a contestant on NBC's The Voice, as a special guest performer. Local comedian Michael Cifaloglio (aka Mike KC) will emcee the event.

As part of the Gabriel Project's mission (see video below), the money raised from the talent show will be donated to Mateo Mendoza Coronado, an infant born with a condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which is a rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects present at birth.

Tetralogy of Fallot can be repaired with surgery, but Coronado will need medical care to keep him healthy for the rest of his life. Coronado and his family currently reside in Mexico where healthcare systems can deny procedures without payment up front.

The Gabriel Project started in 1990 by Mark Melamed, a former Vineland grade-school teacher, and his class of sixth-grade students who volunteered their time to the project.

The Gabriel Project has brought children from developing nations to the United States for life-saving heart surgery. The project also helps children in the New Jersey area.

Mark Melamed (a former SNJ Today Hometown Hero) passed away in 2013, but with the help of his brother Ken Melamed — and past volunteers — the project continues to this day.

The Landis Theater is located at 830 E Landis Ave., in Vineland. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. E-mail Ken Melamed at kmelamed@bretadamsltd.net to order tickets.

To donate go to the GoFundMe Page at gofundme.com/mmtgp.
