Bridgeton Baseball Tournament Changes DatesLast Edited:
BRIDGETON, N.J. – For the first time in its 51-year history, the Bridgeton Invitational Baseball Tournament will not be held in August.
The tournament will take place between May 18th - 22nd and will now be five days instead of the normal two weeks. Alden Field in Bridgeton City Park will be the site of the competition, and will host semi-pro caliber teams comprised of adults 18 and older.
"This is a major change that we hope the teams, public and supporters of the tournament will embrace," said Gary Fischer, director of the tournament. "We are hoping to make the event easier for our many volunteers and better for teams by giving them a top venue in which to compete early in their baseball season. At the end of a long summer season players are forced to make tough decisions when it comes to playing in their playoffs or in the tournament as well as preparing some vacation time just prior to returning to college," added Fischer.
Games start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, May 18th and 19th, with fireworks planned for Friday evening. Saturday and Sunday, May 20th and 21st, will have games at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. The championship game will be played Monday, May 22nd at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets will be sold daily for $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free admission for Veterans. No tournament-long passes will be sold this year. For more information on games, sponsors, or tickets - visit BridgetonTournament.com.
