ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

A celebration of New Jersey's extraordinary and varied arts was held in Atlantic City on Friday, March 10th.

The 9th annual JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards were handed out in the resort on Friday morning after nearly 18,000 votes were cast in 16 different categories, including New Jersey's best art centers, theaters, art galleries, festivals, and more.

South Jersey honorees included the Levoy Theatre in Millville (Favorite South Jersey Performing Arts Center), and the Garden State Film Festival (Favorite South Jersey Film Festival), which has been held in Atlantic City for the past few years.

The 15th annual Garden State Film Festival will be held March 30-April 2 in Atlantic City.

"It's about both the experience and the education and so, therefore, we're really able to celebrate arts in all its different shapes and sizes," said ArtPride NJ President and CEO Adam Perle.

The event was presented by Discover Jersey Arts, which is a co-sponsored project of the ArtPride NJ Foundation and New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Organizers shared that the event is also a way to honor the impact that the arts have on economic development, health care, and education throughout the Garden State.
