MILLVILLE, N.J. -

After a swift construction phase and a soft opening earlier this year, Cumberland County College’s new Arts & Innovation Center will host a Grand Opening event on Friday, March 24th from 6-9 p.m.

The Vineland-based college, which is celebrating its 50-year history this year, is banking on the new facility to bring more students, energy and cultural activities to Cumberland County, specifically in Millville's Glasstown Arts District.

The public is invited to celebrate in the grand opening milestone.

The shiny new facility, located at 321 N. High Street in Millville’s Glasstown Arts District, features 21,000 square feet of "educational, training, retail and entrepreneurial space," according to a press statement. At the grand opening event, "visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facility, and enjoy live entertainment, demonstrations and art exhibits."

"The concept of a Cumberland County Arts & Innovation Center began with the need to expand space for the Clay College, which has been a part of Millville’s downtown for more than a decade," reads the statement, which adds:

"The result of a partnership between Cumberland County College, the City of Millville and the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, this was the first time in Cumberland County College’s history that a new college building was constructed beyond the main campus in Vineland.

"Cumberland County Cultural and Heritage Commission’s General Program Support will help in funding efforts to expand the Center’s offerings. Support is also provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

"Having relocated from its former location at 108 N. High Street, the Clay College is now housed on the first floor of the Arts & Innovation Center. Expanded spaces include a larger main studio, two additional classrooms, a larger gallery space, retail ceramic supply store, and a gallery shop featuring works by resident artists and students."
