CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. – Bill Fenton’s name will be forever linked to Millville Public Library. The retired educator has served in various volunteer capacities in the interest of the library for more than 30 years.

He recently explained his dedication by saying, “The library is our community’s most democratic institution. Everyone may use it regardless of race, gender, nationality or economic ability. I think it serves a great need in the community.”

Fenton’s previous community service includes being a volunteer tutor in the library’s GED program; a former vice president and board member of the Millville Kiwanis Club; Cumberland County PTA Board of Managers; Board of Directors of Millville Crime Stoppers; president of Jack and Jill Nursery School Board of Trustees; and member of the Millville Chamber of Commerce from 1991 to 1996.

Bill retired from the Millville Public Library’s board of trustees on December 31, 2016. A fellow longtime board member recently said, “No one is indispensable, but Bill comes as close as anyone. I wish he would stay on the board for another 30 years.”
