VINELAND, N.J. - Certified Public Accountant, Harry E. Hearing, has been honored with the Vocational Service Award by the Vineland Rotary Club at a recent event lead by chair for the award, Shirley Burke.
The award acknowledges a resident of Vineland whose performance in a profession or vocation has shown distinguished effort and dedication. The honor has been tradition since 1985, when put into place by then-president, Charlie Loyle.
Hearing’s involvement with the community is extensive, including 25 years as a Hospice member—part of which he served as president. Past Trustee and Treasurer for Inspira Health Network, the honoree has also been a part of: the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA, Main Street Vineland/Downtown Improvement District, the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce, Tiny Tim, Vineland Exchange Club, and the Greyhound Exchange Program.
Hearing has been partner of Romano, Hearing, Testa and Knorr Certified Public Accountants since 1976, and was one of the original 27 Organizers of Capital Bank of New Jersey, where he served as a bank director and Chairman of the Audit Committee.
Vineland Rotary Club member, Dave Hanrahan, nominated Hearing for his active role in Vineland and its surrounding communities, where he finds time to get involved, despite a jam-packed accounting schedule.
Hearing has also been recognized by The Grapevine Newspaper as a Hometown Hero and chosen by the Exchange Club as Outstanding Exchangite of the State of New Jersey.
The Vocational Service Award intends to annually promote the Rotary International’s “Vocational Service Month” and acknowledge the exceptional performance of a citizen by contributing a $1,000 grant to the Rotary Foundation in the recipient’s name.
The Vineland chapter of the Rotary Club and its 80 members meet 12:10 p.m. every Tuesday at the Vineland Ramada Inn. For details, visit www.vinelandrotary.com, or contact the club via E-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
