CAMDEN, N.J. -

A country-wide 9-1-1 technology system that aims to save critical time in emergency situations has made its way to South Jersey.

Camden County's Freeholder Board introduced the state's first national Smart 9-1-1 system. This improved version of the U.S.'s universal emergency call network is a free nationwide service that allows users to create a Smart 9-1-1 safety profile which provides vital information to emergency dispatchers and first responders during an emergency.

All Camden County residents are encouraged to create their safety profile on the county website, which will make their emergency information available to dispatchers allowing for a more detailed, rapid response from emergency agencies.

Smart 9-1-1 is private and secure and is only made available to the 9-1-1 system in the event of an emergency call.
