VINELAND, N.J. - The Vineland High School All Sports Booster Club gained 42 inductees to its Hall of Fame from Vineland High School (VHS) on November 22nd. The new members are acclaimed athletes and coaches from the Chestnut Avenue school and were honored during a banquet held at the Greenview Inn at Eastlyn Golf Course.

The All Sports Booster Club involves volunteers from the community, as well as parents of athletes, present, and past, who dedicate their time to VHS team sports. The banquet marks the fourth autumn ceremony for the club and drew in more than 100 family members, faculty, and administration of Vineland Public Schools.

Athletic Director for VHS, Don Robbins, lead the honor ceremony and was joined by several speakers. F. John Sbrana spoke in the interest of the Vineland Board of Education, while Director of Personnel, Dr. Joseph Rossi, represented the district as a whole. Other presenters included VHS principal, Dr. Thomas McCann, Booster Club President, Debbie Anderson, and former club president, Herbert “Skip” Wright. Coach and teacher for VHS, Elliot DeShields, gave the invocation.

Nominees for the All Sports Booster Club Hall of Fame were eligible only if they had graduated a decade or longer ago from the school, excelled in athletics, contributed to the community, and exuded noble character.

Before the banquet, attendees congregated in the halls outside the VHS gymnasium for an unveiling of all inductees’ plaques on the “Wall of Fame”—a custom of the school that started in 1988. One-hundred plaques now decorate the wall.
