AAA Projects One Million More Americans Will Travel for Thanksgiving this Year
This year, there will be one million more travelers taking to the highways, skies, and seas this Thanksgiving, according to AAA.
From Wednesday to Sunday, AAA has projected that 48.7 million Americans plan to travel 50 miles or more for the holiday. That's a 1.9 percent increase over 2015 and the most Thanksgiving travelers since 2007.
This year’s increase in Thanksgiving travel is spurred by improvements in the economy during the second half of the year, including rising wages, and increased consumer spending.
Despite recent increases in the national average price of gasoline, AAA estimates drivers have saved more than $28 billion so far at the pumps this year, compared to the same period last year.
