VIDEO: Russo Continues to Build at Vineland

VINELAND - The Vineland Fighting Clan are continuing to build under third-year head coach Dan Russo.
Russo, a 1993 vineland high school grad, is trying to restore pride to a program that’s finished with a winning record just once in the last 23 seasons.
Vineland features one of the largest enrollments in South Jersey, and Russo said that he’s starting to get more kids committed to rebuilding the fighting clan.
Freshman phenom Isaih Pacheco is back at quarterback for Vineland, and Russo likes the direction that the Fighting Clan is heading.
“Yea we feel like we’re close," said Russo. "A lot of the kids that played as freshman are now juniors, and we always tell the kids in program and people in the community that we’re going to win here. We’re going to win the right way, and we’re going to win with the right kids. That’s our philosophy. We just want to have the right mix, and we’re just working hard, trying to get better.”
Vineland is coming off a 3-7 campaign a year ago. The Fighting Clan will open the 2015 season at home against Middle Township on Sunday, September 11th at 6 p.m.
